Praktica MTL, MTL3, MTL5, MTL50 etc

PrakticaMTLYou may have been told that your Praktica camera is not worth repairing! That depends on how you look at it! Having your Praktica restored means you don’t have to learn to use a new camera, it means you don’t have to replace all your existing lenses and accessories, and, you have a camera you are familiar with.

Despite rumours that Praktica cameras are poorly made they are in fact very well made. But you need to know what you are doing when servicing a Praktica - and we do!

Ok, so there’s a couple of things to consider. The camera body should be in good condition, that is - not physically damaged and preferably free of corrosion and rust. You should probably also check that the viewfinder is clear - dark patches or shadows means a faulty prism silvering which may not be possible to correct.
The lens aperture should also be checked - is it working properly or does the lens need service as well.

When you submit a camera we will assess it before any work is carried out. We will not proceed with service unless we are sure that it will restore to nice reliable condition.

Our service includes complete dismantling of the body and mechanism parts, hand cleaning, lubrication and readjustment of the mechanism. We update the transport mechanism to prevent frame overlap and film tear. We update the meter system so you can use a Silver-Oxide battery (Mercury batteries are no longer available), and replace any other suspect parts.

You will end up with a camera close to original condition that will provide several more years of service.

Complete overhaul, all parts and materials, and 12 months warranty $220.-
