Camera Check Point specializes in the repair and restoration of classic and modern film cameras, lenses, movie and slide projectors. We service many vintage and collectible camera models that cannot be repaired anywhere else.
Specific details can be found on the pages for Film Cameras, Digital Cameras, Lenses, or Projectors (click menu button on the left).
MAIL ORDERS Because Camera Check Point is situated in a regional centre we have established an efficient Mail Order Service and orders are accepted from anywhere in Australia! Your camera equipment is handled safely and professionally whilst in our care and is kept fully insured until you receive it back again.
To use our mail order service please download the Service Order Form (PDF) which has all necessary details, including packing and posting instructions and even an address label.
Upon receipt your photo equipment will be inspected and assessed. A written report with our service recommendation and cost estimate will then be forwarded to you for consideration. If you would like an idea of service costs BEFORE you submit the equipment please use our Estimate Request Form, or phone our workshop and discuss the problem.
ASSESSMENT & ESTIMATES Service orders may be subject to an Assessment Fee where it is necessary to carry out preliminary dismantling in order to assess and determine service requirements, to prepare the estimate, and the cost of returning the equipment to you should you decide not to proceed with the recommended work. HOWEVER, if you approve our estimate and proceed with the recommended work then there is no charge for the assessment.
RECYCLING
If your camera is assessed as unrepairable or if you decide that the service is uneconomical you can choose to assign the equipment to us for salvage recycling.
In that case there is no charge for the assessment and if you have prepaid the assessment fee the charge will be refunded to you.
Insurance Claim Reports If your service request is subject to an Insurance Claim and your Insurance company requires a written report or quotation the charge for the report is non-refundable. Your insurance company is likely to pay the fee if they request such a report. You should confirm this with them prior to submitting the equipment as the fee is payable in advance.

The Pentax S2 you overhauled for me is working like a charm. Although it's a comparatively 'slow' camera to use I have enjoyed putting four films through it since December '08 with great results, Similarly the overhaul you performed on my Yashica Mat 124G has resulted in a beautiful example which has so far had 3 rolls of Tri-X run through it. I now have to get organised to develop and scan them. I can thoroughly recommend your services. Martin Jones, Lane Cove.
After I got my Pentax ME Super back from you in way better condition than expected, I decided to send my Beier which is very precious to me. I couldn't find anyone who would take on the challenge to bring it back to a working condition. Not only did you do this, you went much further than that and fixed up the leather case and overall the camera feels and looks the way it did 50 years ago. You've reminded me how business was conducted in the good old days. The world would be better off with more people like you. Thank you. Greg Siudek, Hornsby.
