How to repair
door hooks and catches.

Except for the newer very thin and flimsy back doors, it is possible to repair or replace a broken door hook using a suitable size wire such as 0.8 mm or 1.0 mm paper clips.

Method 1:
If the old hook is not lost it can be refitted as follows:HookRepair
Drill a hole through the hook and into the remaining hook part on the camera back.

Cut a length of wire of suitable thickness and Super glue the wire into the hole drilled in the back - (I find Pacer Zap-A-Gap Super Glue to be extremely effective on most plastics) - then slide the hook on and apply the superglue to the wire just before pressing the hook home.

To drill the holes accurately, you can fix the hook onto the back temporarily while pre-drilling with a smaller diameter drill. If there is enough space use two wires to increase strength.

Method 2:WireHook1
Fashion a substitute hook of suitable thickness wire 0.8 mm or 1.0 mm.

Drill 2 holes into the back door. Fit the new hook temporarily and check its position. Make any adjustments necessary, and only the superglue the wire in place.

To date I have not had any returns of hooks repaired this way. It is a simple quick method and takes very little time to perform.
